Information about Insulin Syringes and Comparisons

Insulin Syringes Are a Rapidly Changing TechnologyBD Ultrafine II U-100 Insulin Syringes
The insulin syringes that are available to diabetics today are vastly improved over syringes from even a couple of years ago. Today’s insulin syringes have extremely fine needles, are much smaller and often are coated with special lubricants to make injecting your insulin as painless as possible.

Insulin Syringes are a Personal Choice
At Hocks Pharmacy, we carry a wide array of both brands of insulin syringes as well as many different sizes and types. Because the most important factor when deciding what syringes you should use is your personal comfort, we recommend that you try out a few different types and brands of insulin syringes before settling on one. Many factors can influence which syringes will work best for you, including needle length and gauge, the amount of insulin you need, how often you need injections, and multiple other items. Discuss your choices with your doctor or contact us, and we'll help to make sure that taking care of your diabetes is as easy as possible.

Different Types of Insulin Syringes
There are many different types of insulin syringes available, and the syringes that work best for you are really a matter of personal preference. For regular daily injections, Hocks Pharmacy offers two different types of syringes: normal insulin syringes and pen injectors.

Standard Insulin Syringes
A more traditional approach to insulin injection, our standard insulin syringes are available in many different brand and size configurations. Generally ranging in size from 28 gauge to 31 gauge (with the larger number being a smaller needle), Hocks offers insulin syringes from the following companies:

In addition to different insulin needs gauges, insulin syringes also come in different sizes, with each size corresponding to the amount of insulin you need to take. 3/10 cc syringes are used for doses of 30 units or less, ½ cc syringes are used for doses of 50 units or less and 1 cc syringes are used for doses of 100 units or less. Choosing insulin syringes that fit your standard dosage can help to ensure that you will only get the amount of insulin you need.

Pen Syringes
Insulin pens can help make injecting insulin both more convenient and more portable. An insulin pen looks like a large pen, and accepts cartridges that contain 100 units of insulin, which remains inside the pen until it is used up. A short needle attached to the end of the pen delivers the insulin in convenient, accurate doses..

If you have questions regarding the many brands and options of insulin syringes available, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are always happy to help you discover the easiest and most convenient way to manage your diabetes.
